‘The Revenge of Michael Myers’ ALSO Coming to 4K; Official Artwork Revealed!

The leaks of Scream Factory putting out 4K UHD releases of Halloween titles just keeps getting better! Early this morning, a pre-order for The Revenge of Michael Myers went live… and we now have official artwork leaks! It’s unknown yet if these will be on the slipcovers, as reversible artwork with the original posters, or as the only artwork in the set. Nonetheless, you can check them out below. There is still no official confirmation from Scream Factory these releases are coming, but the label teased announcements were coming this week..

Scream Factory Releasing 4K of ‘Halloween’?

There’s been no official confirmation, but signs are pointing towards Scream Factory releasing a 4K Collector’s Edition of John Carpenter’s Halloween this September to help tie in with the release of Halloween Kills! A Canadian vendor’s database was updated this morning with the following listing:

March News (So-Far) Round-Up

There’s been a plethora of news in the Halloween world that I’ve (sadly) been neglecting to post, so here’s the round-up for what’s been announced so far!

On March 12, Digital Spy posted their interview with Andi Matichak, where she referred to the upcoming Halloween Kills as “wonderfully chaotic”. You can read the full interview here.
Also on March 12, Rob Zombie’s newest album was released! It’s available for purchase at your favourite retailers, and is currently on all major streaming services.
March 13 saw the release of Malcolm McDowell’s newest movie, Blood on the Crown. It’s currently available to rent via Amazon, and was filmed in Malta. On March 18, he also posted a Tweet celebrating the nine year anniversary of when he received his star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame.
On March 14, Trick or Treat Studios revealed their Halloween accessories pack on their Twitter page by saying, Here is our first look The Halloween (1978) Accessory Pack! The set will retail for $89.99 and includes Green Coveralls, Ghost Sheet head and glasses, 6 new hands, phone, Judith Myers Tombstone and a light-up jacko’lantern. Be on the look out for more details in the coming month.
On March 16, Season of the Witch‘s Brad Schacte (“Little Buddy”) celebrated his 51st birthday!
On March 17, Danielle Harris appeared on the John Bartolo Show! The hour long interview can be viewed on YouTube, and will soon be added to the video vault for posterity.
On March 17, Caroline Williams – who had a cameo on Rob Zombie’s Halloween II as one of the nurses during the opening dream sequence – watched Leprechaun 3 and did a live tweet of it. You can view all of the Tweets on her Twitter page.

‘Legend of Halloween’ Now Available

The Legend of Halloween follows Michael Myers, a little boy who, after doing terrible things grows up in an institution. Now grown, Michael escapes for a night of mischief and terror back in his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois. From artists and authors David Gordon Green and Onur Tukel comes an imaginative illustrated retelling of the 1978 horror-film classic, originally written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill.

Michael Myers has been a naughty little boy. On Halloween night, he took a knife and did some very bad things. Luckily, he was caught and locked away in Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. Dr. Loomis was determined to keep him institutionalized for the rest of his life. Dr. Loomis knew what was behind Michael’s vacant stare… it was evil…purely and simply evil. Years later, Michael escapes and makes his way back to Haddonfield -the night HE came home – for some more mischief and mayhem. What is it about Halloween that drives this young man to kill? We might never know.
David Gordon Green is a writer and filmmaker who grew up in Texas enjoying films of the 1970’s. He has written movies and television shows professionally and enjoys writing children’s books, teaching and exploring the out-of-doors. He lives with his dog in Chicago.
Onur Tukel is a writer, director and children’s book author. His books include Little Friends, Rainstack! and Help!!! There’s An Elephant In My House. His films include Catfight, Summer of Blood and Applesauce.

The gallery has been updated with three older events! The first is the well-known event at Planet Hollywood during promotion for Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later. The second is a Halloween reunion with select case and crew from October 13, 2000; the third is the DVD signing for Halloween: 25 Years of Terror from July 25, 2005!

New Home Video Releases of John Carpenter’s ‘Halloween’ & Curse/H20/Resurrection Coming This September

Despite Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends being pushed back a year, this September is seeing “new” home video releases of the original classic, as well as Curse, H20 and Resurrection!

First up is a Best Buy exclusive steelbook of Halloween‘s 4K UHD release on September 29, which features the 2013 transfer for the UHD disc and contains the 2007 Blu-Ray as its second disc. Check out the artwork below, and click the link to pre-order your copy!

For those who don’t know, Paramount recently came into possession of the Miramax home video library for distribution purposes. First up on their agenda is a re-release of the infamous Echo Bridge triple feature on September 22, that features all three films presented in 1080i (rather than 1080p) on one disc, and has open matted transfers for H20 and Resurrection.

While I don’t personally recommend it unless you really want to see alternate versions of the films, it’ll most likely be around $10 USD. Check out the link below as well.

Halloween Returning to Drive-In Theatres

From now through October 31, John Carpenter’s Halloween – along with and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers – is returning to drive-in theatres.

Speaking with HalloweenMovies.com, Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills producer Ryan Freimann offered of the news, “Trancas International Films and Compass International Pictures have partnered with CineLife Entertainment in order to bring Halloween to audiences safely during this time of pandemic, and drive-in theater owners seem excited to be booking it as the Halloween season is right around the corner.”

For the 2020 drive-in engagement, the digital print of Halloween has been restored and remastered under the supervision of cinematographer Dean Cundey. Much like it did in 1978, the film’s rollout has started small and will grow throughout the upcoming weeks.

Locations showing John Carpenter’s Halloween this week include include Hummel’s Drive-In in Winchester, Indiana, as well as EVO Entertainment locations in both San Antonio and Austin, Texas on July 31.

Additional drive-ins also showing Halloween include ones in Nashville, Tennessee (Montana Drive-in), Buffalo, New York (Kane Family Drive-in), Hartford and New Haven, Connecticut (Pleasant Valley Drive-in) and Westtown, New York (Warwick Drive-in).
