While putting together the home video history page for the original Halloween, I mentioned that – though outdated by today’s technology and all of the subsequent special features on it – the “10.31.78” 2-tape VHS set of the original Halloween was one of my favourite releases of the film on home media.
Perhaps it’s that it was my first time ever getting something that was marketed as a “limited edition,” or it’s the subtle touch of having the orange VHS tapes, but this has been one of my more prized items in my Halloween collection. In fact, other than a publicity photo of Jamie Lee Curtis that seems to have fallen out of the packaging over the years, my set is in practically mint condition – minus being opened years ago to watch the tapes on occasion.
